What We Do

PEP Air is a member of the Civil Air Search and Rescue Association (CASARA), a Canada-wide volunteer aviation association dedicated to the promotion of SAR Awareness, and to the provision of air search support services to the RCAF, RCMP and local ground SAR units through the province’s Emergency Management and Climate Readiness ministry.

Membership here in British Columbia under PEP Air is open to aircraft owners and pilots, as well as those who wish to received training as spotters and navigators. Since 1986, we have provided air search support services and have promoted Canada’s Search and Rescue Program. Our volunteers, are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to assist those in need.

The CASARA Association that PEP Air is a part of is sponsored by Canada's Department of National Defence who provide training in fields such as SAR Awareness, meteorology, survival awareness and search techniques and procedures.

In return, PEP Air provides:

  • SAR Awareness and search and rescue training programs;

  • Air search support services;

  • Suitable aircraft;

  • Highly trained, safety-conscious crews to fly as pilots, navigators and spotters on Association aircraft, and as spotters on Royal Canadian Air Force aircraft as required;

  • An insurance package including personal accident and liability coverage;

  • Administrative support;

  • Reimbursement for aircraft operating expenses based on aircraft type and local fuel costs;

  • Reimbursement for reasonable expenses that members may incur.

You will benefit from participation in PEP Air by receiving training from professionals that will improve your skills in one or more of several areas such as airmanship, safety, navigation and map-reading, wilderness survival, or technological areas such as image analysis and drones.
